eAudiobooks FAQs

What are eAudiobooks?  eAudiobooks are digital versions of audiobooks that you download to your computer and listen to from your computer or from your MP-3 player.

What do I need to use this service?  You need a 14 digit Morley Library card, a free Morley Library account from NetLibrary/Recorded Books and a PC that runs Windows 2000 or XP with Windows Media Player Versions 9 or 10.  (Go to http://www.microsoft.com/ to download WMP) and a WMA compatible portable player.

How do I know if my MP-3 player will work?  Click here or stop in the library for a list of tested players and the criteria necessary to play large file eAudiobooks.  The Library also has a pamphlet that will help you set up your account, download to your computer and then download to your MP-3 player.  The Net Library/Recorded Books website also has excellent help screens.

How do I get a Morley Library card?  Come to Morley Library with current photo ID and fill out an application, it only takes a few minutes.

How do I get a free Morley Library account from NetLibrary /Recorded Books?
At the top of this page select the to set up a Free NetLibrary/Recorded Books Account button.  Or you can click hereAt home enter your 14 digit Morley Library card number  and click submit. This will take you to the Morley Library page of NetLibrary.  From there you will create your own account and you are ready to start downloading. In the Library Computer Center create your own account from the Morley Library page of Net Library.

I already have a Net Library account, what do I do?  Select the  if you already have a NetLibrary account button or click here.  This will take you to Morley Library page of NetLibrary.

Do I have to come to the Library or can I set-up a NetLibrary account from home?  You do not have to come to the library, but if you wish, you can set-up your account at the Library in the Computer Center.  Yes, you can set-up your account from home but you must have a 14 digit Morley Library card.  Call 352-3383 if you have questions about setting up your account.

Can I download, listen to or transfer books to my MP-3 player on a public computer at the Library?  No, we are sorry but you cannot.  You can accomplish these tasks on your own private computer.

How many eAudiobooks can I download and how long can I keep them?  You may have up to 10 eAudiobooks in your account at any one time.  You may keep them for 3 weeks and renew them for another 3 weeks.

What happens after 3 weeks?  After 3 weeks the file expires & becomes unreadable.  It will still be stored on your computer’s hard drive and/or on your MP-3 player’s drive so you will need to delete the file to free-up space.

What if I’m not finished listening to a book?  You may renew it for another 3 weeks by renewing the license from the NetLibrary web site.  If your checkout period has expired, you can checkout the title again without downloading it.  Click on the Checkout (No Download) link from the Download page for the title.  Open the expired file from your media player.  It will automatically connect to NetLibrary, prompt you to log in and re-checkout the title.

Please Note!  Before transferring an eAudiobook to a portable device, you must open it at least once on your computer.  You can then transfer the title to a portable device using your media player.  Please refer to your media player's help section for complete details.

Can Library Staff help me download to, configure or troubleshoot my portable listening device?  Sorry, Library Staff cannot accept the liability of handling your portable listening device.  Everyone’s MP-3 player is different and you are responsible for knowing how to configure and operate your own equipment.  Please refer to your portable device's help section for complete details.
